Pittsburgh Panthers Secure New QB Commitment from James Perrone

The Pittsburgh Panthers have made a significant addition to their roster by securing a commitment from quarterback James Perrone for the class of 2027. Perrone, a three-star recruit from Florida, announced his decision on June 13 after initially committing to Eastern Carolina. His commitment comes just days after the Panthers lost four-star quarterback Kevin Verpaele, making Perrone a timely replacement. Following an official visit to Pitt, he decided to join the program, which also serves as a form of revenge for the Panthers after their loss to ECU in the GoBowling Military Bowl. In his junior year, Perrone showcased his skills by throwing for 3,231 yards and 33 touchdowns, while also rushing for 636 yards and nine touchdowns. This impressive performance led him to be the top player in total yards in Florida. The Pittsburgh Panthers' quarterback room is currently filled with a mix of experience and youth, featuring players like Mason Heintschel and senior Holden Geriner. With Perrone now on board, he joins a recruiting class that includes 22 commits, with a focus on building a strong foundation for the future. The Panthers are actively recruiting for the 2027 class, aiming to enhance their roster further as they prepare for upcoming seasons.
